About The Workshop
----- SOLD OUT ------
We would love to have you join us for a 2-day workshop where we will learn about the craft of stake and strand willow basketry. Throughout the course, we will cover a range of weaving techniques, from creating a solid base to adding upright stakes, wailing, randing, and many other decorative weaves. We will also explore how to shape the walls of the basket and add a border to finish it off. If time allows, we will also cover some additional techniques like adding a handle or foot.
While weaving, we will also have a chance to discuss harvesting and cultivation methods, willow preparation, and ongoing care for your basket. And the best part? Our outdoor classroom is situated above Mohawk Creek to keep you and the willow cool and moist, which is perfect for basket weaving!
This course is geared towards beginners, but those who have woven baskets before are more than welcome to come and continue learning new weaves and techniques. We are all about the process of basket weaving, so don't worry if you've never done it before! And the best part? You'll leave the workshop with a beautiful handmade basket that you can show off to all of your friends and family.
