About The Workshop
This two-day class is all about carving greenwood with simple and effective hand tools like an axe, a knife, and a hook knife. We'll start by breaking down whole logs into spoon blanks with an axe, and then you'll learn knife grips and safety while carving easy projects like chopsticks or butter spreaders. On the second day, you'll get to carve spoons using the knife techniques you learned on the previous day. We'll also cover other cool topics like where to find the best wood, which tree species are best for carving, how to keep your tools razor sharp, understanding wood grain, designing spoons, and using different oils and finishes to make your creations pop. So, don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to learn some new skills and join us for a fun and exciting time!
Prerequisites: Beginners are welcome! Please note that this course requires hand strength, stamina, and focus to be able to complete the projects listed. Being able to open a sealed jar is an example of the hand strength required.
